Please share a memory of Diana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Diana Washington, born on May 13, 1958, in The Bronx, New York, passed away on January 26, 2025, surrounded by love. She was the cherished daughter of Theodore and Hattie Washington and the youngest in a large, close-knit family. Diana’s childhood was filled with joy and community at 1725 Bruckner Blvd in the Bronxdale Houses, where neighbors became extended family and Thanksgiving gatherings were treasured traditions.

Diana attended PS 36, Junior High School 123, and Adlai E. Stevenson High School, graduating in 1976. She continued her education at community college, earning an associate’s degree in public administration. Diana later met and married Jeffrey Lucas, with whom she raised three beloved children—Brandan, Daeja, and Tavian. Their home in Brooklyn and later Queens became a hub for family celebrations, carrying forward the traditions she cherished from her youth.

Diana worked first as a Legal Secretary before becoming the executive assistant to the Principal of Boys and Girls High School, where she enjoyed a long and fulfilling career. Eventually, she settled into a career in healthcare before retiring.

Faith was a cornerstone of Diana’s life. From an early age, she was deeply involved in her church and maintained a steadfast devotion to God throughout her journey, which led her to Cathedral of Faith in Chesapeake, Virginia. Her boundless love for her family made her the glue that held everyone together, ensuring connections remained strong across generations.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Luther, Teddy, James, Barry, and Bobby; her sister Eleanor; nephew Reggie; and niece Lydia. She is survived by her children Brandan, Daeja, and Tavian; grandson Graham; brothers Archie and Arthur; sister Gilda; nieces Eva, Leshon, and Shirley; nephews Bendele, Joel, Naiku, Omar, Siheem, Arthur Jr., Teddy Jr., and Koreem; as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, and church family.

Diana’s warmth and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
