Vanessa W. Turner Obituary

Vanessa was called home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2025, from her residence in

Norfolk, Virginia.

She graduated from Maury High School and was a proud graduate of Hampton

University in Hampton, Virginia.

Vanessa loved the Lord and was a loyal and faithful member of the Historic First

Baptist Church-Bute Street, Norfolk, Virginia, where she served as Elder and Director

of the Murray Center. Vanessa was also the first female Interim President and CEO of

the church and was honored by the Women’s Ministry for her leadership. Vanessa’s

kind spirit will be remembered by all who interacted with her while managing the

operation of the church and events at the Murray Center. Vanessa had a passion for

helping people and was an ardent supporter of many charitable organizations. Her

greatest joy was being an amazing wife to her beloved husband.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Linwood Turner; Mother, Georgia

Ruth Bailey; four sisters – Virginia, Violet, Vivian, Charlotte and 1 brother- Charles;

and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
