Walter Parsons, Jr. Obituary
Walter Parsons, Jr., “Flumpy,” beloved father, grandfather,
brother, uncle, cousin, and faithful friend peacefully
transitioned in the hands of His Heavenly Father on July 2,
2025, surrounded by his loving family. Flumpy, as he was
affectionately known, was born on June 16, 1936, in Virginia
Beach County to the late Walter Parsons, Sr., and Lettie
Parsons.
Walter joined Piney Grove Baptist Church at an early age.
He attended regularly until relocating for military duties.
Walter was educated in the Virginia Beach school system and
was a graduate of Princess Anne County Training School.
Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and
honorably served his country for 20 years. After retiring from
the military, He later served as a Sworn U.S. Marshall for the
United States Tax Court in Washington D.C.
Walter leaves to cherish his memories: five sons, Ronald
Heckstall, Jeffery (Kim) Manley, Gregory (Willa) Parsons,
Michael (Val) Parsons, and Donald (Cassandra) Parsons; one
daughter, Lorna Otey; one sister, Lorraine (Josephus) Godfrey;
a special cousin, Verlene Britt; a host of grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, nephews, and cousins; and seven devoted
friends, Barry Nixon, David McAllister, Derrick and Renee
MacPhatter, Vincent Reid, Floyd Mucker and Vivian Knox.
