Fritz Jean Jr., 61, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2025.
Known affectionately as “Bugman” or “Junebug” by those closest to him, Fritz was a devoted father, son, and friend, admired for his kind heart, infectious humor, and tireless work ethic. He was born on April 23, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York, to Fritz Jean and Margot Barnave Jean.
Fritz is survived by his former wife of 30 years, Diana, and was a loving father to their three daughters: Brittany Huff (Chad), Dominique Stowe (Reid), and Jasmine Jean. He also lovingly fathered his youngest daughter, Marley, while residing in Phoenix, Arizona. Fritz was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Noemi, Julian, Alaiya, Rhys, Noah, and Rylee, each of whom he cherished deeply.
He is also survived by his siblings Jessie Jean, Mario Jean, Carol Jean, and Alfredo Jean. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz Jean and Margot Barnave Jean, as well as his brothers Lyonel Augustin and Ernest Augustin. Fritz had a close bond with his family and carried a deep love for them throughout his life.
In the 1980s, Fritz proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that helped shape his strong character and discipline.
Professionally, Fritz was a natural in sales, consistently earning top car salesman of the month throughout his career. With his smooth charm, quick wit, and magnetic personality, he had a way of making people feel understood and somehow always left them driving off the lot with a smile and a new set of keys. Selling cars was not just a job for Fritz; it was a stage for his charisma and connection with others to shine.
A gifted and passionate writer, Fritz also found deep joy in poetry. He was an avid poet who brought words to life, often reciting his work to friends, family, or anyone willing to listen. Whether at home, at work, or out in the community, Fritz shared his poetry with an open heart, offering reflections filled with humor, wisdom, and love.
In his free time, Fritz loved playing pool with his friends and enjoying a good drink. He had an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile, both of which left lasting impressions on everyone he met. He was well respected, deeply loved, and surrounded by many friends who will miss him dearly.
Fritz will be remembered for his creativity, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He was known for lifting others up, always reminding them with his favorite phrase, “Keep your head up.”
From Diana, his former wife:
Fritz, you weren't that great at holding a tune, but my heart always melted when you sang our song "Endless Love." You will always be my first love. Thank you for sharing your life with me. Thirty years. There was so much beauty in the battle, but you're home now, my friend, and I get to hold you close in the memories that are ours. Rest in peace, dear Fritz. Rest in peace.
From your daughters, your Babygirls:
Dad, we know you're not buried in the backyard with Bandit like you used to joke about, but we also know this: you are finally home. Rest easy. We love you always.
Memorial service details for Fritz will be shared with friends and family at a later time.
Fritz leaves behind not just memories, but his own voice through poetry. One of his most cherished pieces, written in 1985, is shared here as a tribute to his enduring spirit:
The Children
By Fritz Jean Jr. (1985)
Who cares about our little children
Who'll teach them the truth about everything
of understanding a man to cause no demand
to do no wrong and grow up and be strong
in mind attaining everything fine
this is the hour, this is the day
stand strong with your feelings so we can say
God reveals a better way
our past reveals our present
remember the beginning is the "word"
it's hardly ever heard
Teach the Young and teach the Old
it's a gift of God, to Teach The Children.
