On Sunday September 28, 2025, Margaret Marie Watkins. (affectionately known as Juke) peacefully transitioned in her home.  Margaret was born March 28, 1940 to the late John H. and Rebecca A. Copeland. She is predeceased by her father, mother, brothers Herman, William, and John Copeland; sisters Rebecca, Sallie Mae Brooks and Rillia Elliott.

Margaret graduated from Crestwood High School, and received her diploma at an early age. Later Margaret attended St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA for 2 years. Soon afterwards, Margaret left VA and pursued her life in Washington, D.C. with her husband (Richard Watkins) and daughter, Monica.  One year later her son, Keith was born.

Margaret’s career path started in Telecommunications with BelCom and concluded 30 plus years later with AT&T as a Divisional Marketing Representative.

Anyone who knew Margaret loved her. Her caring and jovial spirit was infectious.  Her flair of style, of love of home décor and floral crafts were bar none.  Our annual family Spring Break vacations to the Outer Banks was her joy, where she looked forward to winning the craft competition 6 years in a row.  Last but not least Margaret was the best sandwich and horderves maker in the family.

Margaret leaves to treasure her memories: her children Monica R. Watkins of Fort Washington, MD; Keith J. Watkins of Orlando, Florida; a brother, Howard L. Copeland (the late Sarah) of Suffolk, VA; nieces; a nephew; great and great-great nieces and nephews and many other relatives who she loved dearly.
