William Ernest “Ernie” Abbott passed away April 23, 2026. Born July

16, 1943, in Waterview, VA, Ernie was a beloved husband, father,

grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Sylvia Jean Abbott of 62 years; his

daughter, Tracy Lynne; an estranged son; two grandchildren, Christopher

and Tiffany (Robbie); three great granddaughters, Dakota, Aurora, and

Gwendolyn; a brother, Jerry; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins,

and extended family members. Ernie is preceded in death by his father,

Samuel W Abbott; his mother, Sue “Susie” Evans Abbott; and brother,

Ralph W “Buddy” Abbott.

His love for family and friends was above all. He touched many lives

throughout the years, and his memory will live on. In lieu of flowers, the

family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or

an animal rescue in Ernie’s memory.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026,

at 1:00pm at Coastal Virginia (CoVA) Church, 301 Newtown Rd., Norfolk,

VA 23502.
