Virginia Estelle Brockett McAllister, 86, was a native of Princess Anne Co. VA, and the fourth of nine children born to the late Johnnie C Brockett, Sr. and Beatrice Allen Brockett. In 1947 she graduated from the Princess Anne Co. Training School, which at that time was the only high school for black students in the region. Following marriage in 1948, she relocated to start her family. She lived in a number of cities including: Blackstone, VA; Laurel, and Baltimore, MD and finally settling in Upper Marlboro, MD. Virginia’s greatest joy were her children, Frank Stanley McAllister of Apollo Beach, FL, Jane McAllister of Atlanta, GA, Vivian McAllister Carter of Bowie, MD and Timothy McAllister of Minneapolis, MN. Joining her children in cherishing her memory are her sisters: Bernice Warren, Elizabeth City, NC; Dorothy English, Cincinnati, OH; Elise Mangham, Cincinnati, OH; and Shirley Gordon, Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren: Misha McAllister, Omari Lewis, Jamila Page, Jacqueline McAllister, Kelsey Carter; great-grandchildren: Tyler Williams, Madison Williams and Jayda Page; 28 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. Deceased are sisters: Ella Murphy, Mary Boston; brothers: Johnnie C. Brockett, Jr. and James Brockett. A service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 16th, and Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Viewing will be held from 2:00 until 7:00 Friday at Walton Funeral Home, and at the church Saturday from 9:30 until the hour of service.
