Obituary of Gloria Kridler Whaley

Gloria Kridler Whaley, was called home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2016 at her home in Chesapeake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charleton Archie Whaley, and her parents: Maness Ray Kridler, Billie Jo and Ron Ide. She is survived by her children, Tracie (Paul) Crouson, Robert (Melinda) Whaley, and Torie (Jeremy) Garrett, all of Chesapeake, Virginia. Also left to cherish her memory are her 8 loving grandchildren: Amber, Ethan, Mikalyn, Barbara, Justin, Robert Jr., Chris, and Connor.
Gloria was a renaissance woman of many talents. Her most cherished accomplishment was her children. She proudly served her country as a surgical technician for the WAC (Woman’s Army Corps) for a total of 8 years, 4 active and 4 reserve. She served as the mayor of Pattonville Housing Community in Stuttgart, Germany in 1979. Throughout her life she perused higher education, holding a Masters in Sociology. While living in Jacksonville, North Carolina, she owned a clothing store, Lady G’s, from 1991-1993. After a long career at GEICO, Gloria went back to college to rediscover her passion in Art.
A graveside service will be held October 15, 2016 at 11 am at East Duplin Memorial Gardens in Beulaville, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/donate or mds-foundation.org.
