Obituary of Robin Davis Josey

Robin Davis Josey, 62, of Dumfries, VA, formerly of Virginia Beach, VA, died in her home on December 24, 2018. She was born on October 2, 1956 in Norfolk, VA and given the name Robin Yvonne Davis. She attended Covenant Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, VA as a child and Hood Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Norfolk, VA as a young adult.

Robin was a loving and giving woman and her generosity was felt by many people. She loved watching a variety of sports and attending sporting events. She especially loved the Pittsburg Steelers. She enjoyed gardening, vacationing on Florida and Caribbean beaches, reading, cooking, fishing and crabbing, and playing tennis as a young adult. She was a 1974 graduate of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA and attended Norfolk State University and Kee Business College. Robin worked at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia and was scheduled to retire in January 2019.

Robin was a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, friend, and aunt. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Y. Davis of Tampa, FL and Stephanie N. Josey of Norfolk, VA; mother, Reverend Rosalyn Poole Woodard (née Riddick) of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughters, Maria G. Areiza, Jacquelyn G. Kelley, and Genevieve G. Knieps, all of Tampa, FL; siblings - Angela D. Royal (Sylvester) of Kennesaw, GA, James L. Davis Jr., of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael A. Johnson (Carolyn) of Hampton, VA, Michele Nix of Newport News, VA, Denise J. Poole-Hill (Eugene) of Gwynn Oak, MD, and Edward T. Poole III, of New York, New York; special daughters, Tatiana Chestnutt  of Springfield, VA and Kathleen Wolford of Burlington, NC; lifelong friends, Janet Jones, Evelyn Cohen, and Pamela King; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Lorenzo Davis Sr., and her domestic partner, Dan Duvall.
