Obituary of Conrad Marc Mendoza

Conrad Marc Mendoza, 91, of Harris Point Drive in Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 21, 2020. He was born in San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines, and was raised by his loving parents Ricardo and Chrisanta Mendoza along with his 12 other siblings. At an early age, he worked in his family’s successful transport business delivering coconuts from farms to manufacturers before entering college. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of the East. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served for 30 years retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Conrad’s career included tours of duty in the Philippines, Hawaii, Guam, Canada, Republic of Vietnam, Naval Station Norfolk, Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Naval Air Station Oceana, USS Intrepid, USS Kearsarge, USS Piedmont, and USS Newport News. Conrad earned the following decorations: • Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal • Vietnam Campaign Medal • Vietnam Service Medal • National Defense Service Medal - Bronze Star in lieu of multiple awards • Multiple Navy Unit Commendation • Multiple Meritorious Unit Commendation • Seven Good Conduct Medals • Combat Action Ribbon • Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation • Multiple Sea Service Deployment Ribbons On November 1984, Conrad retired from the US Navy. He was married for over 60 years to the love of his life, Gloria Mendoza. He is survived by his younger sisters, Estee Plata and Nelia Cigaral, brothers Ray and Ricardo Mendoza, wife Gloria Mendoza, four daughters, and their families: Kariann Mendoza Price, husband Neil of East Haven, CT, daughter Diyana Price and husband Viet Nguyen, and Pamela Price of Los Angeles, CA. Darren Mendoza Padilla, husband Gerardo (Gerry), son Ryan Padilla, and daughter Lauren of Chesapeake, VA. Portia Mendoza Dinger, husband David of Virginia Beach, VA, son Ty Davis and wife Jennifer with their children Temperance and Ariana of Chesapeake, VA. Christie Mendoza, husband John Sanford, and daughters Michelle Sanford, and Ayden Walling of Virginia Beach, VA.
