Mrs. Louella J. Washington was called to rest on November 6, 2020 at the golden age of 93. She was born on September 22, 1927 in North Hampton County, NC to the late Wesley & Mayzie Jenkins. Louella was a loving wife, homemaker, and mother to her children & grandchildren. She was a mother and grandmother figure to many of the neighborhood kids. She was affectionately referred to as: Ma, Granny, Mrs. Sista, Big New York and many other endearing names. Her favorite pass time was working in her garden. Louella loved her large family and enjoyed every gathering. She enjoyed a good laugh and was always willing to lend a listening ear. She was no stranger to helping anyone she could with no questions asked. Louella was well loved and will sincerely be missed.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her eleven children, Wesley J. Washington (the late Abby Washington, Loyide L. Washington (Jackie Washington), Anner Sue Mayfield (Donnell Mayfield), Gay Garris, Angeline Cuffee (the late Allen Cuffee Sr.), Micheal Washington, Tony Washington, Jeremiah Washington (Serena Washington), Christopher Washington, Gilda Washington, Abie Washington, son-in-law Tyrone Trotter (the late Clementine Trotter); forty-three grandchildren, seventy-six great grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Omelia Fenner and Shirley Street; one brother, Herman Jenkins; two sister-in-laws, Flora Washington and Mattrue Washington. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Wesley & Mayzie Jenkins, husband Robert Lee Washington Sr., a son Robert Lee Washington Jr., a daughter Clementine Trotter, a grandson Darryl Washington, a granddaughter Donyell “Nikki” Mayfield, one great granddaughter Miss Kennedi Lee Davis; six brothers, Oscar Lee, Tillman, James, Garland, Saunders, and Amos; and one sister, Minnie. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Special thanks goes to Anner Sue Mayfield, Jette Washington, and Christopher Washington Jr. for taking care of her during her time of sickness.
