Colette Maria Williams was born to the late. Leroy H. & Annie Mae Filhiol Sr on February 2, 1960, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System. She was a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh, Steelers. “Lette” (as she was affectionately known as) loved adult coloring and crocheting, but she was mostly passionate about singing the word of God.
Colette was a long-time employee of the Chesapeake Public School System for over 20 years and later retired. On Wednesday morning, January 19, 2022, God stopped by Waterside Health and Rehabilitation Center and whispered in her ear, “well done my good and faithful servant. It is time for you to come home and take your rest.” He touched her heart and it stopped.
Colette leaves to cherish her memory; “her three girls”, Erica Sykes, Asha Lewis (Chris), and Nokea “Kea” Williams (Lance); her seven grandchildren, Keshawn, Xavien, Eniiyah, Deidrick, Christian, Aubrey and Carter; her six siblings, Gloria Jean Harrell, Valerie Filhiol, Janaf Draughn (Thomas), Danny Miller, Velma “Denise” Griffin (Cecil), and Maria Bishop; her three god-children, Kalei, King, and Adreyn; her uncle, Jesse Filhiol (Marie); her special aunts, Anna Johnson, Vivian Taylor (Dennis), and Linda Holloman; One of her best friends, Debra Cherry; a host of cousins, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, informally adopted children, family and friends.
She was predeceased by her sister Joyce Johnson; her brothers Leroy Filhiol Jr and LeSalle Filhiol; and her best friend, Linwood “Jerome” King.
