Jean Marie (Colvin) Holcombe of Virginia Beach, VA, died peacefully in her sleep on February 6, 2022, at Sentara Leigh Hospital with her family at her side. Jean was born on February 22, 1942, in South Glens Falls, NY. She is predeceased by her parents, William F. Colvin Sr., and Clara (Davis) Colvin, her late husband of 35 years Thomas Holcombe and granddaughter Nicole Swan.
Our beloved wife, mother, momma, and sister will be missed. Jean worked much of her life and chose to spend her retirement caring for her grandchildren and her husband. She is fondly remembered by her grandchildren as “Grandma Jeannie, “Go Go” and “Go Go Jean.” She had a tenacious spirit and an “I am never wrong, and you better prove it attitude.” She loved the outdoors, preferring to spend her time in the sun and in the garden.
Survivors include her siblings, Dolores (Dan) Nolin (NY), William Colvin (FL), Clara Colvin, David Colvin, and Gary Colvin (SC) and her four children, Tracey Distefano, Coleen McCauley (Don Noha), Shannon (Scott) Wichtendahl, Patrick (Megan) McCauley and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens on March 12, 2022, at 1 p.m. The family wants to thank those who have extended their support to Jean in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens https://norfolkbotanicalgarden.org/support/give/
