Obituary
Obituary of Ralph Musselman, Jr.
Please share a memory of Ralph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ralph Paul Musselman, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022. His family will miss his quick wit, ability to fix anything and his unconditional love.
Ralph was a proud member of the Virginia State Guard in the mid 1940s and earned the Soldier of the Year Award. He was a successful businessman who owned the company, Ralph P. Musselman & Son, for nearly 50 years and retired in 1993, much to the delight of his wife, Helen.
Ralph was an avid sportsman. He participated and enjoyed all sports, but none compared to his love of golf. He was a member of Kempsville Greens Golf Course for many years and won the Club Championship in 1969 and 1971. He often reminded us of his 2 hole-in-ones and his best round of 63 in a Pro Am tournament at Kempsville. Ralph could recall every shot on every hole at every golf course. Through golf he and Helen gained many life long friends.
Ralph was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Gilbert, and sister, Lucille Hamilton. Ralph is survived by his wife of 74 years, Helen Musselman, daughters Paula McPherson (Bob), Pella Musselman, brother-in-law, Bud Hooper (Allie); grandchildren Carrie Herzke (John), Ashley Miller (Nick), David McPherson (Rhiannon), Adam McPherson (Spenser Anne), Jeremy Gambill (Crystal), Tyler Gambill (Aubrey); 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Whitley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 62345, Virginia Beach VA 23466.
