Obituary of Novella Gatling Foreman

Our beloved Novella Gatling Foreman, 83, received her heavenly wings on Saturday, November 12, 2022. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, devotion, and service. Born May 18, 1939 to Herman Lee Gatling and Pauline T. Galling in Princess Ann County, VA, Novella was raised in a loving home, along with her siblings; Sarah Adams, David Brothers, Clifton Gatling, and Odessa Harrell, all of whom predeceased her.  On April 2, 1955, Novella married Irie Foreman, Sr., her wonderful husband of 67 years. Together, they nurtured their family of three sons-- Irie, Jr. (Lacynda), Carl (Michelle), and Michael, who gave them three beautiful grandchildren: Stephanie, Tiffany, and Cameron.  

In addition to the immeasurable love, she gave to her family, Novella dedicated her professional and social lives to the service of others: she proudly pursued and retired from a career in nursing; she diligently served as a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Virginia, PHA, St. Alethia #83; and she faithfully served through Christ at New St. John A.M.E. as a member of the Usher Board and of the Clara Davis Nurse's Unit.

She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, devotion, and service.

Left cherishing her memory her loving husband of 67 years, Irie Foreman, Sr. and her sons; Irie, Jr, Carl (Michelle), and Michael Foreman. She will also be missed by many friends and other relatives.
