Obituary of Charles Edward Matlock
With profound sorrow and deep reverence, we announce the passing of Charles Edward "Eddie" Matlock, who peacefully departed from this earthly realm on March 23, 2024, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Surrounded by his cherished children and grandchildren, Eddie completed his earthly journey at the age of 76, transitioning to heaven with eternal peace and grace with our savor.
Eddie, born on July 2, 1947, in Hughes, Arkansas, leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. His presence will be profoundly missed by his devoted daughters, Mary Boling "Matlock" (Jason Boling) and Becky Petrucelli "Matlock," his beloved grandchildren Stevie, Alex, Jordan, Elianna, Sophia, and Caitlyn, and his adored great-grandchildren Mckinzi, River, Keegan, and Kyland. He was a cherished brother to Bobby Matlock, Carole Whitney, Mary McPartland, and Joy Miller. Eddie also leaves behind his loyal companion, Lucy, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his dear parents, Guy and Elise Matlock, and siblings Paul, Danny, Calvin, and Jimmy, Eddie now rests in the comforting embrace of those who have gone before him.
Eddie's life was marked by unwavering dedication and service, both to his country as a proud member of the United States Navy and to his family, whom he cherished above all else. He possessed a gentle but stubborn spirit and a heart overflowing with love, kindness, and compassion for all whom he encountered.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of his memory and in recognition of his granddaughter Sophia, we ask that donations be made to the Special Olympics of Colorado, a cause that held a special place in Eddie's heart.
As we gather to mourn Eddie's passing and celebrate the extraordinary life he lived, let us find solace in the cherished memories he leaves behind and in the knowledge that he now rests in eternal peace. Assured that his final dispatch to glory will be met with love, honor, and reverence by all who knew and cherished him.
