Valerie Renee Filhiol Obituary

Valerie Renee Filhiol was born to the late Leroy and Annie Mae Filhiol, Sr, on December 9, 1958 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School system. Valerie obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Management with a concentration in Computer Administration. She was passionate about God, beauty and family.


Valerie was an employee of Farm Fresh as the head baker for 25 years. She was also a dedicated Mary Kay Consultant over 20 years.


On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, God stopped by the 1600 block of Weber Avenue in Chesapeake, Virginia and whispered in her ear, “your work here is finished, it’s time to come home.” She agreed and went with him.


She is pre-deceased by her sisters, Joyce Johnson & Colette Williams, and brothers Leroy, Jr. and LeSalle Filhiol & George Harris. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Lemont Collins, Regina Walke & Amanda Lion;  grandchildren, Isaiah Walke, LaShawnda  Walke, Ta-Shawn  Alexander, Arlene Alexander & Ley’Ani Filhiol, great grandchildren, Adianna, Josiah, Isaiah Walke, Jr., My’Ava & Messiah-Unique Marsh; siblings, Janaf F. Draughn (Thomas), Velma “Denise” Griffin  (Cecil), Maria Bishop, Danny Miller, & Sandra Newsome; her uncle, Jesse Filhiol (Marie), aunts, Anna Johnson, Vivian Taylor(Dennis), Linda Holloman; special friend, Tony Spellman; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, friends and other extended family members.
