Obituary of Francis Joseph Goodman
Francis Joseph Goodman, 93 of Virginia Beach entered into rest December 18th, 2024. He was the loving husband of 68 years to the late Donna Goodman. Francis (Joe) was born September 14th, 1931. He is the son to the late Cleon I. Goodman and Winsome Steen Goodman. Francis (Joe) is survived by his son Keith Goodman (Karol) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, his daughter-in-law Betty Goodman of Mansfield, Ohio, grandchildren Hollie (Brady) Knuckles, Carrie Gillson, Bryan (Melissa) Goodman and Michael (Lauren) Goodman and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Francis (Joe) was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Clara Rittenhouse of Kane, PA, sister Shirley Goodman of Plumer Pa., brother Cleon Goodman of Oil City, Pa., brother Darrel Goodman of Kane, Pa., his oldest son Neal Joseph Goodman of Mansfield Ohio and his wife Donna Goodman of Avon Lake, Ohio. Francis (Joe) graduated from Oil City High School, Oil City, Pa in 1950. He served in the United States Army Security Agency from 1952 – 1955 and spent 16 months in Korea. Francis graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois in 1956 and National Radio School in Cleveland Ohio in 1959. He was employed by J&L Steel in Oil City Pa for 7 years (interrupted by military service), Burroughs Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio, Therm-O-Disk in Mansfield, Ohio, Mansfield Tire in Mansfield Ohio and Ford Motor Company in Avon Lake, Ohio for 24 years as a skilled trades electrician.
Francis (Joe) was a Mason for over 55 years and served as the Master of the Mid-Century Lodge of Avon Lake, Ohio in 1983. He was very active and he loved to travel, play cards, go on picnics and enjoy his family and friends. He was a private pilot and flew family and friends all over on vacations.
