Betty Jean Spence Obituary

Betty Jean Harrell Spence, 81, entered her heavenly rest on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2017.

Betty was a native of Pitt Co., North Carolina and is the daughter of John and Alice Harrell, Betty Jean lived most of her life in Chesapeake, where she raised seven children and worked on the family farm.  Guided by her unwavering faith in God and belief that motherhood was her highest calling, she provided her children a firm foundation built on love, honor and a strong work ethic. Her loving children will miss her contagious laugh, her beautiful singing voice, but mostly, her loving heart.

She was predeceased by one son, George Leon Spence, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her adoring children, Jennifer (Jim) Baughman, Scott Spence, Jeannie (Mike) Brown, Tracey (Mike) Triplett, Robyn (Robert) Woods, and Amy (Jason) Brown. She will also be missed by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
