Obituary of Quirina P. Padilla
Quirina “Coring” P. Padilla, 82, of Southleaf Drive,
died March 29, 2018. She was born in Ican and raised in Bogtong, Malasiqui, Pangasinan,
Philippines by her adoptive parents Sisenando and Rosing Castillo.
She was a former elementary school educator and accountant before a long
career as a real estate agent and broker in the greater Hampton Roads area.
She was a founding member of the Bayanihan Club and the Pangasinan
Association of Virginia, and past president of the Filipino Women's Club
of Tidewater. As a member of the Board of Directors and a Trustee of
the Council of United Filipino Organizations of Tidewater (CUFOT), she
contributed greatly to the establishment of the landmark Philippine
Cultural Center on Baxter Road.
In 2002, her work earned her the TOFA international recognition. FIL-AM IMAGE, a Filipino-American magazine based in Washington, D.C., named her to its “Circle of Leaders,” a prestigious honor reserved for those who exemplify a positive Filipino image through their leadership and visibility in their respective communities. She was one of 20 Filipino-Americans rewarded with this distinction that year.
She was the widow of Pablo M. Padilla, a U.S. Navy retiree and Vietnam
War veteran.
She is survived by three sons and their families:
Raul Padilla, wife Maeflor, and daughter Alissa-Mae of Orange County, CA;
Gerardo Padilla, wife Darren, daughter Lauren of Chesapeake, and son
Ryan of Orange County, CA;
Randy Padilla, wife Marilou, and son Luke of Virginia Beach.
She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Virginia
