Obituary of Robert Lee Garris, Jr.
Robert L. Garris, Jr. “BJ” passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2018 in Hampton, Virginia. He was born on October 29, 1971 in Yuber City, CA. BJ moved to Virginia at an early age and was a resident of the Peninsula area of Tidewater for the majority of his life. He was a 1990 graduate of Hampton High School and attended Norfolk State University. At the time of his death, he was a dedicated employee of Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and regularly attended Grove Church, Portsmouth.
Robert lived life to the fullest and always believed God was in control, in spite of illness and the various challenges he faced. His faith was immeasurable and he maintained his humor through good and bad times. His family and friends lives are forever enriched because of him.
Left cherishing BJ’s memory are his parents, Robert L. Garris, Sr. “Bob”, and his mother Ellen Chambers. Siblings Daphne Jackson, Pamela Jeter, Jay, and Bobby Crim. Uncles Dr. Lonnie Garris, Jr., James Garris, Sr., George Brickhouse, Patrick, and Lonnie Chambers. Aunts, Anna Hill and Florence Thomas-Grimes and a caring step mother Shirley Garris. His godparents Walter and Patricia Brazell, his god siblings Walter Brazell, Jr, and Nicole Brazell. BJ will also be missed by his loving fience', to whom he referred to as his “ride or die” Vickie Brooms, and host of special friends including but not limited to; Omar Allen, Kyle Edwards, Brent Turner, Richard Williams, Rodney Langston, Smitty
He is also predeceased by his grandmother Hattie Thomas, and godfather Jimmy Jeter.
