Obituary of Albert Jones Godfrey, Jr.

Albert Jones Godfrey Jr, 55, passed away on Wednesday, July 24th, 2019 in Virginia Beach, VA surrounded by his loving family.  "Al" as he was known, was born April 2nd, 1964 to Albert Jones Godfrey, Sr. and Gloria Delayce Godfrey in Norfolk, VA.

Al was devoted to his children and grandchildren whom, he loved with all his heart.  He enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. Al loved fishing and motorcycles, but most of all, Al will be known as the biggest Pittsburg Steeler Fan you will ever find.  He had a heart of gold and although he didn’t have much, he would help anyone who needed it.  Al will always be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.

Al was predeceased by his mother Gloria Godfrey and granddaughter Tatyana Jennings.  Left to cherish his memory is: his father, Albert Godfrey Sr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters, Theresa Beichner Steven of Virginia Beach, VA, Deborah Fitzreiter and Angela Joint both from Erie, PA; two sons, Albert J. Godfrey III (AJ) and Thomas Jones Godfrey; two daughters, Lisa Carey and Brenda (Bean Pole) Bentlay Pettus all of Virginia Beach, VA; 9 grandchildren Tylisha, Ah’Niya, Ava, Atl’Lanah, Kristen, Ayden, Emilia, Joshua and Madeline; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a number of extended family members and friends. Last but not least his loving and devoted dog Rocky, who was at his side as he took his last breath.

A celebration of life, with a Pittsburg Steeler theme, will be held at his sister’s home located at 1601 Boston Ct., Virginia Beach on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm. The rain date will be Sunday August 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Please jot down memories you would like to share with Al’s family and friends.

Viewing will be held Thrusday, August 1, 2019 at Walton Funeral Home.
