Obituary of Virginia Hider Munden

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Virginia E. Munden departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, after a lengthy illness in the presence of family members. She was the third of five children born November 26, 1933, to the late Martha Brockett and Hansom Hider, in Princess Anne, Va. (Va. Beach). She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Carl A. Munden, Sr.; brothers James, Gideon, and Melvin Hider. Virginia was raised in a loving Christian family by her late grandparents, Deacon Gideon and Martha Brockett. She accepted Christ at an early age, baptized in the Atlantic Ocean, and became a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Va. There she worked faithfully and diligently serving in several ministries. Later years she transferred her membership and united with Piney Grove Baptist Church where she continued the covenant and the principles of God’s word. Virginia wasn’t for sitting around, for being involved in the church activities was a part of her personality. She was an Usher, a Deaconess, a Missionary, and a member of the Women’s Club.

Virginia attended Princess Anne County Training Public School. There she met Carl A. Munden, Sr., the love of her life. They were married November 18, 1952. They were blessed with four beautiful children. Although she didn’t complete her formal education, she had a fierce determination and was self-sacrificing in order to give her children the best she could offer.

Virginia was a warm, nurturing, compassionate homemaker, who at times, worked outside of the home. She took great pride in caring for her family, others’ children, and especially several senior family members, even her mother who weren’t able to care for themselves.

Virginia’s spirit will remain. BUT her presence will be GREATLY MISSED!

She leaves to reflect and cherish her memory of 85 years her four children: Patricia Ann White (son-in-law Ronald L.); Annette Cassandra Munden; Carl Alvin Munden, Jr.; and Calvin H. Munden (daughter-in-law, Julie A.). Grandchildren include Nakia L. White, Aminah L. White, Ryan M. Munden, and Sage G. Munden; her great-granddaughter Samara Ann Ell Ray; sister, Evelyn Hider, and a host of relatives and friends.
